Day of giving

Samsung Electronics closed the doors to its offices in the U.S. and Canada on Oct. 16 to take part in the company’s Day of Service.
Employees in Hudson County took part in two events, one called “Only Make Believe” at the A. Harry Moore school for children with special needs in Jersey City, and at the Hoboken Shelter.
This year, the company’s 4,200 employees gave more than16,800 hours at more than 50 non-profit organizations the U.S. and Canada where employees mentored youth, cleaned up communal areas, provided organizational assistance to nonprofits, and built hygiene kits for the homeless.
In areas like Newark, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Samsung helped to revamp and revitalize eight of their locations nationwide. The company began a makeover of each locations technology space, slated to be completed in another day of service in spring 2016.
The Samsung Day of Service program was started in 2002 to help children across North America lead healthier, more well-rounded lives by supporting and giving back to deserving charities, hospitals and schools through the company’s Hope for Children initiative.
With the company’s partners, Samsung has donated more than $46 million since 2002 to causes that improve the lives of children around the U.S.
