Vote “yes” to move our elections from May to November.

Dear Editor:
As a young African American millennial living in Ward A Greenville, I am writing this letter to show my support to moving the city’s nonpartisan mayoral and City Council elections from May to November. If you look at the numbers, only about 28 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the last mayoral race. As a city, we did not even reach close to 50 percent. We still have much work to do and by moving elections to November will be a step in the right direction.
In addition, let’s not forget the amount of tax dollars our city will save which in return can be used to improve our quality of life in Jersey City. While there are some who are saying Mayor Fulop is doing this as a political move to secure a seat, they are wrong. While being a minority on the city council, Fulop fought to make changes then and he is continuing the good fight. In conclusion, I know this will be beneficiary to my community as a whole as we continue to make Jersey City one of the best mid sized cities in America.
Vote “yes” to move our elections from May to November.
