CENTER LINE VIOLATION
QUESTION: In high school volleyball, left front (LF) player on Team (A) contacts the center line with foot partially on both sides of court. Is this legal? Is this a center line infraction?
ANSWER: Legal play. Violation occurs when entire foot is across the center line. (Rule 9, Sec. 5, Art. 7).
QUESTION: Left front (LF) player on Team (B) spikes the ball across the net. His / her momentum causes a foot to cross the center line extension outside the court but within the net standard. Is this legal or center line violation?
ANSWER: Crossing the center line extension outside the court is legal provided player does not interfere with an opponent’s play. (Rule 9, Sec. 5, Art. 7).
