Sharing the top spot at (1-0), both the Bengals and Eagles set their sights on sole possession of first place in the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division. Scoring on the game’s first play, the Bengals’ Andres Giron raced wire to wire for a TD followed by Kasper Hooks’ extra point catch. Quickly down 7-0, the Eagles took just two plays to counter attack as QB Drew Radil unleashed a 40 yard TD bomb to Matt Miceli. Miceli then gave his squad an 8-7 advantage on a driving two point snare. After a solid defensive stand keyed by Da’mien Taylor and Nicholas DePinto’s ball hawking, the Bengals once again hit paydirt as “young gun” Matt Miceli fired a 40 yard dart to Da’mon Taylor to make it 14-7, Eagles. With their passing game misfiring, the Bengal returned to the run as Andres Giron once again sprinted full court to cut the Eagles advantage to 14-13. Using all their weapons, the Eagles stretched their lead to 20-13 on a Damon Taylor TD catch as the 1st half ended. Hoping to jump start their anemic air attack, the Bengals once again came up short as a wide open Kyle Arano and Ian Giron watched sure TD strikes sail just out of reach. Abandoning the long ball, the Bengals’ Kasper Hooks turned a two yard screen pass into a full court TD gallop to narrow the Eagles’ lead to 20-19. Locked in an old fashioned donnybrook, the Eagles dug in and dominated the final 15 minutes as Matt Miceli notched his second TD catch while Jacob Kowal added the finishing touches with a 20 yard TD reception and a 35 yard pick off return. Ending the bout with Drew Radil’s extra point grab, the Eagles soared away with a 39-19 victory.
