BAYONNE – Bayonne Municipal Services Director Robert Wondolowski has resigned and will be leaving his post on Dec. 31.
Wondolowski joined the administration of Mayor James Davis in July of last year after working on Davis’s campaign during that winter and spring.
He said he is leaving the administration for health reasons and to take care of his elderly parents, specifically his ailing father.
“I have to take care of my father. My mother can’t do it alone,” Wondolowski said.
The divorced father also wants to spend more time with his children, aged 14, 12, and 7.
“I had been thinking about it for a month,” he said. “I have a lot of personal things going on.”
In his post, Wondolowski oversaw a number of city departments. He was also charged with leading the city’s development efforts.
Wondolowski feels that he, his staff, and the administration achieved a lot in attracting projects to Bayonne in the year and a half he was a city director.
“It was an honor to be a part of the economic team, with my planners and other people,” he said. “I think we were really successful. Bayonne is on an upward trajectory for an economic boon.”
