74, of Whiting, passed away on December 12, 2015, while vacationing in St. Maarten, West Indies. He was born in Jersey City and raised in Bayonne. He lived in Jersey City and Tinton Falls before moving to Whiting in 2000. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Robert worked as a police officer for the Jersey City Police Department for 21 years, retiring in 1994 as a Deputy Chief. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Robert was predeceased by his parents: Joanna and Jeremiah Di Meola; and two grandsons: Jason and Joseph. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Di Meola of 29 years; his two stepsons; Joseph Henehan and Raymond Henehan; one daughter Rosemary Viglone of Toms River; two sisters: JoAnne Grodkiewicz and her husband Bill of Glen Gardiner and Germaine Fischer and her husband Bill, two grandchildren: Justin and Matthew Viglone; seven step grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Myah, Mason, Frankie and Carmela, and one niece Dara Fischer.
