BAYONNE – Bringing a chill back to the Richard L. Korpi Ice Rink in Bayonne was the goal, and everyone attending the rededication ceremony on Friday, Dec. 18, was happy that objective was achieved.
Representatives of city of Bayonne, the Bayonne School District, and others attended a short program and participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Among them were Mayor James Davis, Schools Superintendent Patricia McGeehan, Board of Education President Will Lawson, and Bayonne High School Principal Richard Baccarella.
The ceremony celebrated the city’s nearly $2 million investment in reconstructing the facility.
The event was followed by a regular season varsity hockey game between Bayonne High School and Old Tappan.
The Korpi Ice Rink is on the campus of Bayonne High on Avenue A.
