Snowboken: Travel bans, tips and tweets

HOBOKEN – The area was expected to get up to a foot of snow on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, Hoboken Chief of Police Kenneth Ferrante tweeted: “Don’t drive in @CityofHoboken unless you are public safety, medical, utility, transportation or government personnel. Essential services only!”
Nine municipal and other nine county trucks were hard at work salting and plowing roads, and two power brooms are clearing parks and public property, the city said.
Any residents who encounter a homeless person in the streets are advised to call 201-420-2100.
Call 911 for emergencies. For less dire situations (to report unplowed streets, unshoveled sidewalks, or other non-emergency issues) call the city’s command center at 201-239-6644.
News 12 anchor Marc Rubin Tweeted, “Just met a guy at the Sky Club warming his car – wife in labor!”

Cars on Hoboken’s emergency snow routes are being towed.
