HOBOKEN – As a SUEZ (formerly United Water) crew continues to work at repairing a water main break near First and Clinton Streets, the city announced that a boil water advisory is not in effect.
An ETA over when repairs will be completed has not been established as of now.
In other news, if you think you were having a bad Monday it’s nothing compared to what one resident – whose car has been swallowed up by a sinkhole at the site of the main break – is experiencing.
City spokesman Juan Melli confirmed that the car was parked and there was no driver at the time of its descent into the ditch.
“The soil under the road eroded because of the main break so the weight of the car caused the road to collapse,” he said via email.
Some residents even at the other end of town have reported low or no water pressure. The most recent update from the city on Twitter around 9:30 a.m.: “Broken main has been isolated; water pressure restoring [through] city. Block of 1st (Clinton-Willow will be w/o service until repairs completed” – Steven Rodas
