It’s been a rough year for rock legends, and one of the younger ones — one belonging to Generation X — has been reported dead. Prince Rogers Nelson has passed away at 57, according to reports. The legendary singer, who was admired both in the pop and alternative worlds, was found in his Paisley Park mansion in Minneapolis.
The Great Purple One is known for curious ways to court publicity, so some local residents were Tweeting to ask if it was a hoax. But as of 1:20 p.m., mainstream media was reporting the death.
A Twitter handle called “Hoboken Prince” appeared to have no comment as of press time.
