JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven Fulop will join with members of the City Council, community members, and members of the American jazz and soul band Kool & the Gang on Friday afternoon to rename a section of Maple Street between Pacific Avenue and Whiton Street “Kool & the Gang Way.”
The band was originally formed in Jersey City in 1964, and went on to achieve massive critical and commercial success, with over 70 million albums sold worldwide.
The commemorative street-naming, from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Maple Street and Pacific Avenue, will celebrate the band’s success as well as the history and heritage of Jersey City’s strong local arts community.
