VFW post holds annual pancake breakfast

What better way to meet your neighbors?

On Sunday Feb. 21, the Weehawken Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oulton-Kraft Post 1923 held their annual Pancake Breakfast at the Senior Nutrition Center.
The center was packed with the public hungry for the great-smelling pancakes and sausage and many could not resist taking second helpings. Commander Chuck Barone sees the Pancake Breakfast as a way to bring everyone in the community together for breakfast.
“It is an opportunity to build friendships, engage with each other, and feel a sense of community. All the proceeds will go towards VFW community programs.”
Barone added, “We want to thank everyone who helped make this event a success. We could not have done it without Members of Weehawken Girl Scout Troops 12933 & 12779 and their families. They assisted in setting up the tables, meeting customers at the door, serving and helping to clean-up. The VFW knows how important community service is to America, with volunteerism benefiting education, the environment, and civic projects.”
Senior Citizens were treated to the Pancake Breakfast courtesy of Mayor Richard Turner and the Township Council.
“What better way is there to bring the community together than over a plate full of pancakes and a hot cup of coffee?” said Mayor Turner.
