Dear Editor:
Super wealthy Americans have only themselves to blame if they are perturbed by Bernie Sanders’s strong showing in this year’s presidential campaign. When will today’s One Percent understand what their more enlightened predecessors figured out after World War II?: Enabling workers to prosper by offering full-time jobs which pay decent wages makes our economy more profitable for all Americans, including the One Percenters themselves.
If American companies regarded their workers as valuable, investment-worthy assets instead of disposal commodities, our economy would thrive as it has not done for decades. And if American companies manufactured their products here at home, thereby rebuilding our depleted manufacturing base, we would have far less to fear from our geopolitical competitors abroad. Those who understand this equation—as opposed to electoral arithmetic—will lend their support to Bernie Sanders on June 7.
