Amazing goal by Santana seals Islander win

Coming off their last meeting, an epic 7-7 draw, the (0-1-1) Penguins and the (0-1-2) Islanders were both still in search of their first JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey victory. Slamming away for 30 scoreless minutes, the Isles’ Emya Irwin, Elliott Santana, and Drew Radil drilled shots on goal but the Penguins’ Logan Mazziota stayed perfect at net. Rolling the dice, the Pens pulled Mazziota from net in hopes of sparking their offense and the move paid off as Mazziota blasted the game’s first goal with just 6:40 remaining as Megan Feeley picked up the assist. Falling back into a defensive mode, the Penguins fell prey to a wrap around goal by the Islanders’ Jacob Kowal to tie the brawl at 1-1 with under three minutes remaining. Digging in for the onslaught to come, the Islanders’ Shawn Agosto ruled the net making six breath taking saves as the Penguins’ Matt Doyle and Megan Feeley poured it on. After a diving save, the Penguin’s Harsh Easwar sent the ball up court but a quick steal by the Isles’ Drew Radil set up a pass and an amazing game winning goal by Elliott Santana as the Islanders got into the win column with a 2-1 victory.
