CHARUBIN, LEON L.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Aug. 4 at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, for Leon L. Charubin, 90. He passed away peacefully on July 31 surrounded by his family at Hackensack University Medical Center. Born on Ellis Island, New York and raised in Poland, Mr. Charubin lived in Jersey City for 65 years. Leon proudly served as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a longshoreman for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He loved repairing televisions and electronic devices, repurposing things, and caring for the neighborhood cats. Predeceased by his son Thomas in 2005, he is survived by his wife Julia of 65 years, his two daughters Carol Nerviano and her husband Tom of Sparta, Janet Charubin of Jersey City, and two grandchildren Kate and Andrew.
