Flash floods in Bayonne drench the Monday commute

BAYONNE – A flash-flood warning preceded real flash floods on Monday evening, at times stranding vehicles. Photos surfaced of stranded cars at the 22nd Street underpass, Avenue E and 13th Street, and the 8th Street underpass. After about two hours, the heavy rain subsided, and flood waters receded.. A downed tree caused light rail service to be suspended between Danforth Avenue and Eighth Street, temporarily suspending all stops in Bayonne. Some stranded commuters report that shuttle bus service was available.
