ALTOMARE, GIROLAMO

Funeral mass took place Aug. 22 at St. Francis Church, Hoboken, for Girolamo “Jerry” Altomare, 74 of Hoboken. He passed away Aug. 17 at Community Medical Center, in Toms River. Girolamo was born in Molfetta, Italy, and came to settle in Hoboken as a young man. He worked as a mechanic for Sabrett Hotdogs and then at Berlin & Jones before retiring about 10 years ago. Jerry was well known in the Hoboken community and was a proud member of the Hoboken Elks Lodge 74 where he once served as Exalted Ruler and Chairman of the Special Children’s Commitee.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son James Altomare. Surviving are his wife Beverly Altomare; three children, his son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Liana Altomare, his daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Steven Advensky, and daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ed Visnovske, and granddaughter Abby. Jerry is also survived by one brother and his wife Sergio and Mary Altomare, and a sister Joan Uva.
