A funeral mass was offered Aug. 17 at St. Dorothea’s RC Church, Eatontown, for Betty Steinert, 92, of Matawan. She passed away Aug. 12 at the Atrium Senior Living of Matawan. Betty was born to Joseph and Josephine Pollio in Jersey City. After her marriage to George Steinert they raised their family in Union City. Betty was past-president of both the North Bergen Seniors Club and the St. Anthony’s Seniors of Union City. She was very active in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and was able to organize the first Brownie Scout troop in Union City. She was a scout leader from 1957 to 1971. Betty was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Josephine Pollio and by her husband George in 2003. Surviving are her daughters; Joy Eastmead (Lewis) of Tinton Falls, Betty Ann Marantino (Ralph) of Old Bridge and Linda DeVito (Steven) of Totowa, her grandchildren; Amy Marantino, Kathy Bolton (Jon), Kimberly DeVito, James Eastmead, Lewis Eastmead (Jody), Jason Ma-rantino (Norah), her great grandchildren; Allison and Lewis Eastmead, George and Anthony Marantino, Jack, Devin and Tyler Bolton, Amanda Reynolds, Samantha Wrona and Jessie Warren.
