76, of Bayonne, passed away at home on October 3, 2016, surrounded by his family. “Papi” as he was affectionately known by all, was born in Guatemala and came to the United States in 1969 where he resided for the past 37 years in Bayonne. He was employed as a lab manager for the Kenrich Petroleum Corporation in Bayonne before his retirement 15 years ago. Prior to that, Papi worked as a chef for Reitners Kosher Kitchen in Bayonne and The Hilton Hotel in New York City where he mastered various cooking techniques. Papi was the Proprietor of the Latin Tunes Convenience Store (on the corner of Willow Street and Broadway in Bayonne). Papi was predeceased by his parents, Eulogio and Vitalina (Leonardo) Hernandez, and his siblings in Guatemala. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years, Elsa (nee: Avendano) Hernandez; his daughter, Silvia Perez and her husband Jose; his son Jorge Hernandez and his wife Donna; 1 sister, Zoila Hernandez; 2 grandchildren, Jorge A.
