About 1:30 a.m. on Memorial Day the sewer backed up into our basement. Upon calling the authorities the response was immediate from both the police and fire departments. They told me they would contact the MUA. By 4:30 a.m., SUEZ Water was working on the sewer and by that time my sump pump had cleared the water from the basement area. Subsequently I called the MUA and the MUA promised they would make more periodical checkups on the sewer in our neighborhood. Although the sewer system problem may not be fixed the checkups do help in alleviating the backups. When the sink starts to gurgle it is a sign that the sewer needs to be checked. So in a time when there is much negativity about the city, I would like to say thanks to all who responded in a timely fashion.
