In spite of their (0-6) record, the Red Wings are a vastly improved squad and feeling even a little confident as they took on the (6-1) Bruins in their final regular season JCC of Bayonne’s Jr. Division floor hockey bout. The game started off like a heavyweight prize fight as both teams played cautiously respecting each other’s knockout potential. Landing the first blow, the Bruins’ Sebastian Valles jammed in a goal off an assist by Christian Benson. Down 1-0, the Red Wings quickly countered with a scoring blast from William Hulsmanwith Kailey Delauter on the assist. Tied at 1 all, the Bruins and Red Wings traded jabs once more with Valles hitting his mark again for the Bruins while the Red Wings’ Kailey Delauter scored off a centering pass from Alexandra Hulsman. The 2-2 impasse lasted for over fifteen minutes as the Red Wings’ Mariam Rasslan and the Bruins’ Toni Rivada dug in at net. Hoping to break the tie, the Red Wings went on the attack, unfortunately the Bruins’ defense laid in wait, springing into action for two breakaway goals by Valles as Brenden McCall notched a pair of assists. Surging again, the Red Wings fired away but the Bruins held on for a 4-2 victory.
