Valles rules and Bruins roll

Launching its 2016 Indoor Floor Hockey season, the JCC of Bayonne hosted a Jr. Division bout between the Bruins and Blackhawks. Storming out to a 5-0 lead, the Bruins’ Sebastian Valles pumped in four goals while Christian Benson added a goal and three assists. With Valles and Benson setting the pace, the Blackhawks used their speed to turn the tide with two break away goals by Aaliyana Cifuentes as Steven Gulli and David Matos notched assists. Leading 5-2, the Bruins cashed in on a mis-played rebound as Benson picked up his second goal of the game making it 6-2, Bruins. In net for the first time both Brenden McCall (Bruins) and Anthony Baez (Blackhawks) showed steady improvement throughout the contest combining for 28 saves. Looking to pull away, the Bruins got a big boost from Toni Rivada who got into the offensive mix with four assists in the last fifteen minutes of play. Adding to his mounting point total, the Bruins’ Sebastian Valles ended his 2016 debut with eleven goals as the Bruins impressed with a 13-2 victory.
