Benson, Valles keep Bruins rolling

Exploding out of the gate with two impressive victories, the (2-0) Bruins are clearly the team to beat in the JCC of Bayonne’s Jr Division floor hockey. Stepping up to face the challenge, the (1-1) Blackhawks hoped to use their team speed to counteract the Bruins’ scoring duo of Sebastian Valles and Christian Benson. Falling prey to a defensive mindset, the Hawks never attacked the Bruins net in the early going and the Bruins made them pay by racking up a 7-0 lead. Fueling the onslaught for the Bruins were Sebastian Valles (6 goals, 1 assist), Christian Benson (1 goal, 5 assists), and Brenden McCall (1 assist). Staring at a 7-0 deficit, the Blackhawks’ Steven Gulli took matters into his own hands and raced up court to zip in his first goal of the season with David Matos on the assist. Still well in control with a 7-1 advantage, the Bruins set up camp in the Hawks’ zone and quickly made it a 12-1 game with Valles (2), Benson (2), and Toni Rivada (1) torching in goals. With the game out of reach, the Blackhawks’ finally had an offensive epiphany and went on the attack as Aaliyana Cifuentes blasted in three goals in less than five minutes with Anthony Baez (1) and William Hulsman (2) recording the assists. Still in charge with a 12-4 advantage, the Bruins capped off another impressive outing as Valles pumped in his ninth goal of the bout for a 13-4 victory.
