Jersey City Parking Authority should not have been abolished

Dear Editor:
I have been a long time resident of Jersey City and witnessed firsthand the ever present enforcement and community efforts by the Jersey City Parking Authority that was abolished by the present administration.
What a huge mistake—try currently to contact the parking enforcement which has been placed under the Public Safety Department. The phone system was shut down currently of the parking enforcement office due to non-payment of the phone bill. When it snowed this winter there were no parking authority employees cleaning around the street corners and crosswalks as the parking authority would do. We do not see any parking enforcement officers in the streets. And when a resident calls for a parking enforcement problems it takes hours for an employee to respond.
Residents of Jersey City are being shortchanged in many areas especially the above.
An investigation is needed.
