Dear Editor: The newest council person may not know it, but the election is over and he doesn’t need to “campaign” anymore. I have read several articles of Tony Soares being interviewed and he continued to avoid what his agenda would be as Councilperson. I hope that Mr. Soares will now stop chasing after Mayor Russo and begin to reveal his own plans. However, my main reason for writing this letter is to recognize Mayor Russo’s commitment and hard work for AIDS victims and their families. I remember he was one of the first public leaders to speak out on behalf of and raise funds for those who suffer from AIDS. AIDS Awareness Day was on December 1, 1999, and I just wanted to say “thank you” Anthony Russo for your compassion and courage in this struggle. To me you are a dynamic leader for this City, working for an ever-improving Hoboken. E.M.
