To the Editor:
On behalf of the board members and the membership of the Gary La Pelusa Association, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very healthy, happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
Each year since we established the association we have always participated in as well as asked anyone who would attend our meetings to please bring nonperishable food items, usually in October and November, and we would donate them to the local food pantry at St. Vincent de Paul Church. This year we did that again, and we would like to thank all who gave. It was very thoughtful and generous of you. Since the last meeting in November, we have engaged ourselves in our annual toy drive asking everyone who attends our meeting to bring an unwrapped toy to our meeting in December. People can also donate a new unwrapped toy to the association for the toy drive if they don’t attend our meetings. We have done this for many years, and all toys are going to be donated to a local organization.
If anyone is interested in attending our December meeting, please bring an unwrapped new toy. Our meeting is on Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. Santa will be making an appearance, so please bring your children or grandchildren and please don’t forget the unwrapped toy. If you want to donate a toy to the toy drive and cannot make the meeting, please contact us at (201) 823-1868, and we can make arrangements to pick up the toy from you.
Our monthly meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at the CWV, 18 West 23rd St., at 7:30 p.m. if anyone is interested in becoming a member or attending.
We held our annual sustaining dinner on Saturday, November 12, where we honored Dr. Condo and the former Director of the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corp, George Lavelle. It was very well attended. The Gary La Pelusa Association would like to thank Dr. Condo and George Lavelle for allowing us to honor them for their dedication and loyalty to the community of Bayonne. We would like to thank the Chandelier, Rocky Coviello, and his incredible staff. They make having an event there so easy, and they are very accommodating. Thank you to Socalis Florist for the beautiful centerpieces. I would like to thank everyone who helped make the evening so successful.
Again, have a very healthy and happy holiday season.
