Bench dedicated to Martin Klepach
Graduates of the St. Joseph Grammar School Class of 1971 remembered deceased friend Martin Klepach with a bench dedication ceremony at Sr. Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Park in Bayonne last month. Klepach, who died three years ago, was the sparkplug behind the group’s many reunions.
Bayonne woman charged with murdering her husband
Margaret T. Mazurczyk, 50, was arrested early Thanksgiving morning for the murder of her husband, Stanley Mazurczyk, 54, at their third-floor apartment on Kennedy Boulevard and 31st Street, according to a criminal complaint filed at the Hudson County Court. At around midnight, police responded to a 911 call from a “witness indicating that the defendant stated she had killed her husband,” according to the complaint. At the crime scene, police allegedly found a large kitchen knife near the victim’s body and Margaret Mazurczyk covered in blood. According to the complaint, Stanley Mazurczyk allegedly had several stab wounds and was taken to Bayonne Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
Avenue E hot dog cart damaged in suspected case of arson
The Sabret hot dog cart operated by Alex DeJesus on Avenue E and 34th Street was damaged in what Bayonne fire officials suspect is a case of arson. The suspected arsonist allegedly lit a nearby trashcan on fire at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, damaging the hot dog cart. No suspect was caught and the Bayonne Police Department are still investigating.
Alex De Jesus invested in a winterized hot dog cart a few months ago with an enclosed space for him to stand inside through the colder months.

BHS to host Workshop on College Financial Planning
“Navigating College Financial Aid,” a free presentation for parents and guardians of high school junior and senior students planning to attend college, will be offered on Monday, December 12, at 6 p.m. in the Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium at Bayonne High School. Andre Maglione, the Acting Director Financial Aid Service for the State of New Jersey’s Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), will provide families with valuable information about the financial aid application process. The presentation will cover the FAFSA application (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), critical changes in the reporting process, important deadlines, scholarship search ideas and financial aid programs such as grants, loans and work study.
Anyone who needs financial assistance to pay for college is urged not to miss this opportunity on Monday, December 12 at 6 p.m. at the Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium at Bayonne High School.
BHS Winter Spectacular
Bayonne High School will host its first annual Winter Spectacular on December 8at 6:30 p.m. to kick off the holiday season.
The show will feature more than 150 student performers from BHS and all11 elementary schools, including the Winter Wonderland Band, the BHS and Bayonne Middle Schools Combined Choirs, and the BHS Jazz Band in an outdoor concert and holiday light show.
Following the Winter Spectacular Concert and Holiday Light Show, Santa will come to the Richard Korpi Ice Rink to ice skate with the kids. Hot chocolate and refreshments will be available. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for students and seniors. Paid admission includes the outdoor Winter Spectacular Concert and Holiday Light Show, and Skate with Santa.
