NORTH BERGEN — The North Bergen Police Department is hosting four informal community meetings throughout the township in September. North Bergen residents are encouraged to come voice their concerns and discuss any issues in person with members of the Police Department.
The initiative, known as N.B. TAPS or North Bergen Township Alternative Policing Strategy, was initiated earlier this year by Police Chief Robert Dowd in order to enhance police and community relations. Residents get to meet the officers who patrol their neighborhoods, and the officers learn about any matters of concern directly from the residents.
All meetings will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the downtown library on 2123 Kennedy Blvd. The next is for Thursday, Sept. 15 at the North Bergen Town Hall Chambers in the lower level on 4233 Kennedy Blvd. The following meeting will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the uptown library on 8411 Bergenline Ave. The final meeting of the month is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22 at Our Lady of Fatima Church on 8101 Kennedy Blvd.
