Dear Editor:
After reading the January 14 edition of the North Bergen Reporter, I am once again outraged by the antics and comments by Mayor Sacco. The mayor’s comments about myself couldn’t be further from the truth. His comments would lead one to believe that he essentially scolded me like I was a child, when in fact that was not close to what really happened. It is unfortunate that I was never given an opportunity to state my side of the story, as we all know there are two sides to every story.
My side is as follows: We as Americans are so lucky to live in a Democracy, one that countless millions gave their lives to earn and later preserve. One of these rights we won was the right to open government. However, this privilege does not exist in Nick Sacco’s North Bergen. This is evident by the way Mayor Sacco runs his town meetings. Further evidence was compounded by Judge Fuentes ruling on the Sier-Bath saga. The judge overturned (albeit temporary) Sacco’s arbitrary and illegal actions.
This pattern of an inflated ego is directly representative of Mayor Sacco calling my actions “obnoxious.” You see he calls me “obnoxious” since I have the gall to stand up to his “I am the law” attitude. For example, acting Town Clerk Carol Fontana will read out “the town authorizes payment to two.” The Board of Commissioners. They unanimously vote yes.Yet boss Sacco declares my asking of who are the two persons, how much are they being paid, and why, as “obnoxious.” Well, in that case I’m proud to be “obnoxious”, as Nick Sacco cannot arbitrary re-issue the laws of this great land. The mayor and commissioners are required by the law to have open government; that means he must make public his dealings. This willful pattern of deception or secret government by Mayor Sacco and Herb Klitzner must be stopped, as it is nothing more than a mechanism to give sweetheart deals to his political cronies and backers; why else would he continue to circumvent the same process that he speaks of?
In summary, I can only promise that I will continue to pursue open government, and watch out for the interests of the taxpayers. Nick Sacco can continue to call names, and attempt to intimidate. He will soon find out that his actions will not scare me off, they will only push me to work harder.
