We must ‘all’ be patient and wait until ‘all’ the facts are presented

Dear Editor:

Jersey City SPCA Director, Tom Hart, recently wrote a letter to this newspaper defending one of his workers, against complaints made by the Jersey City Animal Control Department.

One of the complaints was that the worker is guilty of animal cruelty. The other charge is that he blocked the Animal Control Department from conducting an inspection of the sick room at the SPCA.

The purpose of Mr. Hart’s letter was to ask the public to wait for the determination of the court as to the above charges before condemning the man. While Mr. Hart’s words are eloquent, Mr. Hart should heed his own words. While we shall await the determination of the court, Mr. Hart should also do the same. Until the facts of the case are presented at the time of trial, no one, including Mr. Hart, can be certain of the facts.

And while Mr. Hart is noted for his long-winded, eloquently written letters to the local newspapers, perhaps this eloquent phrase may be something Mr. Hart should ponder, “Thy Protest Too Much.”
