Dear Editor:
The reason I am writing is I live in West New York Housing on Adams Street, and when there is a half day, the children are up to no good. They are causing trouble like killing harmless wildlife. Today these children were outside my building throwing the football at a squirrel, and they hurt him. I had to call the police on them and also for the police to take the hurt squirrel away.
Now I would like to know where their parents are for these children are out after school causing trouble. Yes, you parents should do something about the way you raise your children, looking for trouble when school is done for the day. You should be doing more with your lives than killing squirrels.
The West New York schools should have after-school things for these children to do. The schools should give a lot of homework so they have enough to do instead of causing trouble after school. I also think when a child finishes school and has nothing to do, they should help out the town by cleaning up the streets.
If I were a parent and my child hurt a squirrel, I would punish him or her. I would take away video games for a month; there would be no telephone calls for one month and no going out after school, and I would make my child do extra work around the house.
