Slowing up Residents speak out on the economy

The national economy is slumping, and experts say the country may be headed into a recession. The Reporter asked residents of Hoboken, Weehawken and Jersey City how the current state of economic affairs was affecting them.

Sylvia Klein, Hoboken

“Many times you think like there is no money for anything, but then money always seems to come by. I’ve never been without the stuff I need. “

Kristen Maida, Weehawken

“It really hasn’t affected me much. I need to learn more about the economy, because I don’t know a lot about it.”

Meghan Cunniff, Jersey City

“Whenever the economy goes bad I start saving money and watch my spending. I hope things get better soon.”

Pedro Jimenez, Hoboken

“Too many people pay too much for rent, and sometimes it is not good for struggling families that can’t afford much.”

Miriam Sanchez, Weehawken

“The state of the economy is not affecting me or my family. We manage with what we have and look for ways to cut down on spending.”

Sandra Kausmann, Jersey City

“My husband works and takes care of the bills. So far we’re doing fine.”
