Need more programs to keep mentally ill on their meds

Dear Editor:

The reason I am writing is I am concerned about these mentally ill people that think they feel great, saying I don’t need to take this medicine, but in the long run they need it or they start to talk to themselves or start trouble or go after people with a sharp item. What are these mental health centers doing to teach these people that they need their medicine or they can’t live in a public place without acting out.

Now take this program on 22nd Street. Do they ever stay on their medicine and live a normal live? No, they stop their meds and say I don’t need them. I am just concerned about everyone’s safety if one of these sick people were to come and get their hands on a gun or something like that.

So what I am asking is stop emptying the state mental hospitals. They are in there for a reason.
