Roberts will work to address issues that concern all Hoboken residents

Dear Editor:

I am wondering why the Russo team considers it negative for a mayoral candidate to own property and run a business in his home town. Isn’t it good to have someone looking out for other property and small business owner’s interests?

Most of the residents of Hoboken I know love it here, and If they don’t already own property, they aspire to. For many, the apprehension with purchasing property here has to do with worry about the huge buildings being built without adequate parking or traffic planning; worry about the number of small unique stores closing on Washington Street; worry about Stevens building a large underground parking lot on a small, historic, residential street that already has too much traffic on it; worry about the quality of schools once our children reach middle and high school; and the big one in real estate, resale value in several years when there is no room to walk, drive or park anywhere in town.

Dave Roberts will work to address all these issues as a mayor who happens to own property and run a business in a town he obviously loves. The fact that he is running on a balanced ticket with Hoboken United shows that while he may be a property owner, he hasn’t forgotten about the residents who aren’t.
