Dear New Jerseyans:
Liberty Park’s southern end has reopened. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims’ families and friends.
God Bless America and all good people at this time of sorrow and of determination to punish the evil doers and their supporters with an international coalition.
Our gratitude is deserved by the whole staff of Liberty State Park for its long hours of heroic work during this past tragic week. The park administrators, Rangers, maintenance people and the entire park staff did valiant work in coordination with NY, NJ and federal officials, firefighters, police, medical workers, ferry company staff and all whose compassion and skills were part of this incredible team effort.
The park staff played an invaluable role. Particular commendation must go to Assistant Superintendent Josh Osowski, Chief Ranger Teri Genardi, NJDEP Division of Parks and Forestry Director Gregory Marshall and the Regional State Park Superintendent Paul Sedor.
Liberty State Park, with its immigration and transportation history, and located next to our shrines to democracy, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, is now part of this new chapter in American history. The park’s staff and facilities have served many special community purposes, and sadly, has now served this new one. The park always a source of spiritual inspiration will now help in our healing process and in our reflection on this painful attack on our indestructible American spirit. With God’s guidance and our inner strength, our country will do what must be done to lead the world toward a saner, safer, more loving and peaceful future. United we’ll stand.
Sam Pesin, President
