With much appreciation…

Dear Editor:

We would like to express our deep appreciation for the work of the Weehawken Volunteer First Aid Squad during Thanksgiving weekend. Al Berg and Gio Ahmad, who were off-duty but happened to be fixing a computer at the squad headquarters, heard on the police scanner that our four-year-old daughter Emma had been injured. They notified the police desk that they would respond and rushed to the scene with an ambulance.

As a result, Emma was quickly transferred to Saint Mary’s emergency room where after several hours of tests, we were able to determine that only her collar bone had been broken and nothing more serious involving her head or neck. She had fallen down a flight of stairs.

Without the selfless response of these EMS volunteers, as well as the police and fire fighters who first responded to the 911 call, our family would have had to wait an unknown time for ambulance service to arrive from Jersey City, where the closest on-duty ambulance was stationed at the time.

With sincerest gratitude,

Ben and Lois Goldman
