When cruelty was a dream away
And home a shield to pain
Cozy safe with all our stuff
Our doors and windows shut
We noticed not that other’s weeped
Or that there could be grief
We slept the sleep of innocence
And never thought of recompense
Now naked in the wind we tremble
Elysian days are hard remembered
Now we beat our breasts and shriek
And so we join the world and weep
