Dear Editor:
Pro Arts is a Jersey City based, nonprofit organization devoted to promoting and enriching the arts of Hudson County. At year’s end we thoroughly enjoy taking the time to thank our many supporters and contributors, without whom we could not have realized our goals.
We are extremely grateful for the contributions from many of Jersey City’s downtown corporations and businesses, who have supported many of our exhibitions this past year and have also worked with us enthusiastically to foster new ways of developing the arts in our community. We thank all who have participated in our series of arts and business meetings, including our host, the Jersey City EDC. We thank Fleet Bank for their financial support and use of their elegant space for exhibitions, most recently “After Shock- Jersey City Artists responses to 9/11.” We thank DCC Systems for their co-sponsorship of that same exhibition. We thank Mack-Cali for donating their window space as the new “Windows on Columbus” exhibition venue. We thank Provident Bank and Charles Chamot Gallery for their sponsorship of our international exchange exhibition featuring 4 artists from Nantong, the Peoples Republic of China, also Bill Bu for his work on that show. We would also like to especially thank Goldman Sacks, Mack-Cali, and Jersey City EDC for their mutual sponsorship of our upcoming Arts and Business Luncheon in January 2002.
Thanks also go to our friends in the community. We thank the Friends of Pro Arts who have joined us as supporting members, Hamilton Park Ale House that caters many of our exhibitions, and Grace Church Van Vorst that donates their space for numerous exhibitions as “The Gallery Space at Grace Church Van Vorst” as well as for our Pro Arts meetings.
For a successful studio tour this year we have many to thank, especially the sponsors, The Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs, The Hudson Reporter, Bel Fuse, and others. Heartfelt thanks also go out to the many curators, organizers and participants who yet again presented a great tour.
Finally, we are most grateful to Mayor Glen Cunningham and the City Council for their strong support of the new WALDO ordinance, and continued support of the arts in Jersey City.
