Do I need to learn a new language to get well?

Dear Editor:

The reason I am writing is I was just sick, and I was in the hospital for tests, and my doctor got me a home health aide and a nurse. The homemaker only spoke a little English, and I told the agency that, and they said to me you need to learn Spanish so you will be able to talk to her. And I turned around and told them that I was born and raised in America, and I told her that my grandparents both came to this country and they knew English. My father’s parents came from Italy, and my mother’s parents came from Germany, and I am third generation.

So my problem is this, if you want to come from Cuba, you must learn to speak English first, no ifs, ands or buts. You must learn English to have a job in America.

I now am feeling better, I no longer need a homemaker.
