Sci-fi and spies Loew’s Jersey Theater to host science fiction and James Bond film festivals

The Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theater (54 Journal Square, Jersey City) is hosting a Sci-Fi weekend beginning tonight, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. with a screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind directed by Steven Spielberg. On Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. the theater will screen The Brain from Planet Arous and Dr. Who and the Daleks.Later that night, at 7:30 p.m., the theater will show the 1956 classic Forbidden Planet starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis and Leslie Nielsen, accompanied by Tom & Jerry cartoon clips.

The following weekend, the theater is hosting a James Bond film fest. On Friday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. the theater will show Goldfinger, the Sean Connery classic featuring Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore. On Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. the theater will show On Her Majesty’s Secret Service starring George Lazenby in his only performance as 007. Later that night, the theater will show Dr. No, the first James Bond film ever made.

Large selections of 007 merchandise will be for sale in the lobby.
