Dear Editor:
A recent letter to the editor by Gail Humphrey of Friends of the Waterfront has jealousy written all over it. Ms. Humphrey complains of the nearly 600 “friends” who attended Mayor Richard F. Turner’sWeehawken and You campaign kickoff recently.
What Ms. Humphrey cannot comprehend is that those 600 or so residents are not personal friends of the Mayor, but rather supporters of his good government team. A team who over the last 12 years has brought stable taxes, 50 percent drop in crime, clean streets, refurbished parks and playgrounds and a school system that is in the top 12 percent in the entire state. It is a team with a history of keeping its promises and not misleading the public. It is the reason the Weehawken and You team has so many friends and Mr. Humphrey’s political group has so few.
On May 14, 2002, I urge all residents to vote for the true friends of Weehawken, the Weehawken and You team of Mayor Richard F. Turner, Councilman James Terlizzi, Councilman Robert Sosa, Councilman Louis Ferullo and Councilwoman Rosemary Lavagnino.
