W.I.N. will listen

Dear Editor:

Last week, Ms. Sarah Crew wrote a letter critical of W.I.N. for not having a fully realized vision for Weehawken when we formed. This is prudence, not ignorance. Our intention was and is to listen to all the people and reflect their views, something that doesn’t happen with the current regime. The Turner team has repeatedly favored the needs of outside developers over those of its own constituents, who overwhelmingly wish to preserve the small town character of Weehawken. As for our positions, they are carefully considered and clearly stated in our literature.

Ms. Crew further states that W.I.N. people may be intelligent, but that such attributes are of no use when applying for grants and exploiting “connections.” Well, I know George Bush is president and all, but since when did being bright disqualify one from public service? Besides no one on our side has ever accused Mayor Turner of not being smart.

Finally, if everything is so open and available at Town Hall, why were we given the runaround for over a month when we rightfully attempted to get a copy of the town budget? We finally had to drive to Trenton to get it. What’s the big secret? Is there something we’re not supposed to see?

This is just the kind of odious behavior W.I.N. will fight to erase.
