I support Gilliard for Freeholder in the 5th District

Dear Editor:

Carrie Richburg-Gilliard was first elected as a trustee of the Hoboken Board of Education in 1966. She was the first African American female in the City of Hoboken’s history. She served two terms.

Carrie served as vice president of Pastors Aide for several years at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Hoboken. Carrie was elected president of the (Hoboken Chapter) NAACP (presently on leave of absence.)

Carrie is a member of the Order of Eastern Star Oziel Grand Chapter (Prince Hall Affiliation, State Jurisdiction of New Jersey.) She is a recipient of numerous awards and citations, i.e. Hudson County, City of Hoboken, City of Jersey City and several fraternal and community organizations.

Carrie will be an independent, effective voice for all people, as she has demonstrated in the past.

For those reasons and many others too numerous to mention, I am supporting Carrie Richburg-Gilliard for Freeholder in the 5th District. Please vote 4-B.

First Ward Councilwoman
