Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter first as a concerned parent and secondly as a taxpayer of Hoboken.
Is the public aware that our public school system does not have a nurse on duty in each of our three primary and two middle schools? Yes, they do have nurses but they must rotate their days and hours at the schools.
This means if one of our children gets sick/injured in school we have to pray that the time of the injury and the school where it occurred coincides with the nurses’ schedule!
Why not have a nurse in each school? Please don’t give me the old budget routine. The Board recently created a full-time position “Coordinator of Health and Social Services.” Instead they should have hired nurses to cover each school every hour and day that our children attend.
I strongly urge each Board member and the Superintendent to rectify this very serious situation.
A Concerned Parent
