The Year 2002

The year two thousand two was a hell of a year
It had so much sorrow and lots of tears.
We hadn’t gotten over the World Trade horror
When in stepped the agonizing threats of war.
We had two crazy people running around
Shooting and killing people town to town.
So many people have lost their livelihood
No jobs to be found, and that isn’t too good.
The Democrats lost seats in the House
You can’t hear them, they are quiet as a mouse.
Our Governor used the taxpayers’ money to fly
To Ireland, we are looking at him with a jaundiced eye.
Robert J was caught doing his sneaky thing
Two other freeholders got caught in his sting.
We got our first Black mayor, we made history
Where we got that Council from is a mystery.
Always putting our mayor down, won’t hold him up
At voting time, at voting time, our anger will erupt.
The seniors are mistreated Lord and done wrong
All we got for a raise in S.S. is a thirteen dollar bong.
We finally got snow for Christmas, most now have gone
Be glad when spring comes and I can work on my lawn.
Lord let two thousand three be a better year
Let there be love, happiness, peace and cheer.
