A voice of leadership

Dear Editor:

The election is over. For now, Mayor Cunningham answers his critics with an overwhelming victory, almost a grand slam. Cunningham, Chiappone and Manzo have achieved a win in the 31st District.

Congratulations are due with good fortune and in November we still carry on to victory with the B-Team. Then we will have a stronger voice in Trenton with an impact for much needed legislation for senior citizens who don’t have health care.

However, as long as Medicare continues without prescription drug benefits it will never be able to provide complete coverage. In this era of budget surpluses, the time has come to modernize Medicare by providing senior citizens with affordable access to prescription drugs.

My fellow senior citizens, we still must support all the same candidates in November. Mayor Cunningham will have my support with the rest of his team. Let’s all remember we senior citizens are still the grass roots party of America, and let’s never give up the dream. We are a great nation with the best technology, so let Washington be our teacher with an agenda.

A funny thing happened. I was watching television with A.B.C. Peter Jennings; they hope to pass a prescription drugs bill for senior citizens before they adjourn to go home. This is a year of election for both parties!

Thank you with the American dream.

Sincerely,
Louis V. Saliceti
Mayor’s Commissioner on Senior Affairs
