John Seymour knows his music. The Hoboken resident and founder of the label Media 51 has produced albums for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bouncing Souls and the Gadgets, to name a few. He was recently in New Orleans producing an album, and this weekend he’ll be front and center at the Whiskey Bar in Hoboken to record a live hard rock album.
"We are bringing good talent and giving bands new exposure," Seymour said.
The lineup includes local acts Downstage, Sovenskya, Plainsiad, and Waking on June 20, and Slowdrown, Downshallow, Madjul and Downpore on June 21. Seymour will set up his state-of-the-art recording equipment near the stage at the venue and he will record the best tracks from each band. He will take a few weeks to arrange the record, which is scheduled for release Aug. 8. It will be titled Live and Loud Vol. 1.
"The record will spotlight the local original scene," said Whiskey Bar operator Jeff Debruycker.
The live recordings sessions are expected to take place several times a year, said Seymour.
The shows start at 9 p.m. For ticket information visit www.whiskey-bar.com or call (201) 963-3400. The venue is located at 125 Washington St. – E. Mulero
