Seniors are only recognized when they can help someone or some cause…

Dear Editor:

The only time our 41 million senior citizens are front page news is when there is a problem with Medicare, Social Security, a drug program or their vast block of votes are needed by our desperate politicians for one of their self serving pet projects.

Several years ago, New Jersey seniors were given the PAAD Program through gambling profits from Atlantic City. This Pharmaceutical Program gave our eligible seniors a drug program for $5 for each prescription. This Lifeline is a New Jersey State Law and should never be taken away from our senior citizens.

Right now it would appear there is a federal drug program in the works for all seniors in the United States. For many years the PAAD Program has done a magnificent job taking care of our senior citizens. I see no reason why this PAAD Program cannot be extended to include all golden agers across the U.S.A. In so doing, this would prevent the AARP and the insurance companies from accumulating a pot of gold on the backs of our senior citizens.
