Dear Mayor Roberts:
I saw the Channel 12 news story about 800 Jackson Street and applaud you and your administration for working with the developer and neighboring communities to reduce the height of the proposed building and to change the design to increase safety and accessibility.
As a mother and resident of Hoboken who lives near the site, I expect to use the light rail often with my children, and I am happy to see that the project will be built but that the final development will address the concerns of our neighbors in Jersey City while also addressing the safety for residents in Hoboken.
As an architect I do not believe the whole site should be a park as some have suggested, and I am happy that the administration is now endorsing the project and that it will be built. Bravo for allowing “smart growth” while also taking on difficult issues and working out a solution that all of the residents of this area can applaud.
