To a special hero who will never be forgotten

Dear Editor:

It is now a year later since Master Sergeant John J. Mullins was put to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Va. Just briefly going past his 25 years of active service to our country which helps provide the freedom we enjoy today. He received two purple hearts, a bronze star, the combat infantry badge, and five stars for involvement in major battles both World War II and the Korean War. Sgt. Mullins was an advisor to the California National Guard after he retired from his Amy Military Service. Mullins’ service to his country also had an “enormous impact on his family”, said his sister, Peggy Mullins Roselli. His strength and commitment were always a source of inspiration. John was a member of the American Legion Post 107; he was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Affairs.

“It was his love of the United States that inspired his continued bravery and service,” according to Tom Kennedy, Commander of American Legion Post 107. We also would like to thank the American Legion Post 107 for a special honor presented to John.

In closing, let me tell you, ironically, the same day Sergeant Mullins passed away was the same day our President George W. Bush declared Iraq a liberated country. No coincidences there. My uncle would have most definitely wanted to mention for God to bless and watch over our brave service men and women out there fighting for our freedom today. They are our heroes. Uncle Jackie, you are our very special hero always and will never be forgotten. God Bless America.

We love and miss you,
Peggy Mullins Roselli
